Bah...Humbug on You UNICEF...

As seen in rainbowkids.org newsletter: Many people do not know this about this popular agency...I usually do not post things such as this but I know UNICEF played a major role in the closing of adoptions in Guatemala and many other countries and although they may do several "good" things.....keeping children from a forever family is not a "good" thing.

Adoption News: UNICEF Pushing Agenda

The future of Intercountry adoption is currently being formed through the Hague and the influence of several organizations over world leaders and in-country decision makers. Adoptive families have a strong voice in the decision making process. For that reason, we present the following information and links.

Although UNICEF's official position is that it approves of international adoption as a last resort for children, in practice UNICEF is often content to settle for children remaining in orphanages in their native countries. As UNICEF's primary funding source, the United States must make clear that every child has the right to a permanent family,
and the US must back up that policy with dollars withheld or provided.

UNICEF has most recently inserted itself into the agreements between Ireland and Vietnam, and very recently a critical meeting in Haiti that will determine the fates of countless at-risk children. UNICEF continually insists that they, and they alone, know what is best for children throughout the world. It is not enough to fly in for a meeting, change the destinies of children, and fly back to a well-stocked kitchen and warm bed. Practical, on-the-ground solutions must be implemented immediately to provide for children affected by broad policy changes.
